The Buyer/Merchandiser- Grocery-Head is responsible for the overall coordination of grocery merchandising and sales promotions for the assigned region. Responsible for aligning with the Regional Merchandise Center (RMC), for the procurement and coordination of the distribution of grocery products throughout the Distribution Center or division
Duties: (not inclusive)
- Local staff responsibility for the overall coordination of grocery merchandising and sales promotion functions.
- Local staff responsibility, along with the Regional Buying Office (RBO), for the procurement and coordination of the distribution of grocery products through the Distribution Center customer or division.
- Responsible for the overall budgeted service levels, inventory turns, and inventory gain.
- Supervises applications and enforcement of approved grocery merchandising, procurement, and advertising plans.
- Evaluates new grocery items from RBO, recommends discontinuance of items, and keeps abreast of market trends.
- Utilize knowledge of competitive pricing, assortment variety, quality standards and merchandising strategies.
- Approves credit memorandums, pick-ups, inter-company transfers and any cross-docking requests.
- Maintains accurate and current order catalogs.
- Assists in special retail promotions for item selection and costing.
- Maintains and fosters a scheduled communication relationship with retail customers and vendors.
- Maintains and improves upon layered gain profits.
- Food Show Committee member.
Requirements:

Minimum 5 years of Grocery Merchandising experience including supervisory/leadership experiences.

Extensive grocery industry knowledge and procurement experience required; additional retail experience is preferred.

Proven prosperous consulting relationships involving independent grocery owner/operators.

Performance driven to develop and execute new programs focused on intensifying sales and profits.

Solid negotiation skills

Strong leadership skills

Superb interpersonal and written communications skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary.

Quality organizational skills

Demonstrated multi-department relationship builder in a progressive fast paced industry
