            Basic Function

 

Responsible for the organization, scheduling of staff, and directing of the warehouse on a day-to-day work plan; ensuring excellent customer service, high productivity, and a safe work environment.  Adjusts schedules as necessary in both the shipping and receiving areas, responsible for warehouse scratch rates, order accuracy, productivity levels and facility maintenance. Accountable for warehouse shipping crew associates performance-accuracy, productivity, and following safe methods. Responsible for warehouse sanitation, maintenance, and inventory control.

 

Essential Duties

  •  Responsible for the supervision and scheduling of all shipping/receiving crew associates.
  • Responsible for the unloading and receiving of all trucks. Checks for proper rotation, damage, and product freshness.
  • Responsible for order selection, replenishment, and loading.
  • Trains associates on the proper techniques and functions of shipping/receiving.
  • Maintains safety programs and all required safety training for the crew.
  • Records, reports and investigates all accidents.
  • Maintain general oversight of building conditions with particular attention paid to cleanliness, product storage, safety concerns, product damage prevention and internal security concerns.
  • Controls costs on supplies and labor.
  • Ensures proper use of all power equipment.
  • Schedules appointments for inbound freight.
  • Ensures all loads are loaded on time.
  • Coordinates deliveries and dispatch activities on the shift as needed.
  • Review all paperwork/processes for accuracy and coordinate timely outbound deliveries/inbound receipts with clerical team, customer service, and transportation as needed
  • Works with buyers on all scheduling, quality and vendor issues.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide correction/training as needed
  • Manage through floor presence, group interaction, and analysis of WMS production data with pre-determined productivity expectations.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned by Manager

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

  • High School Diploma/GED; additional college level work is a plus.
  • 3+ years Warehouse Supervisor experience required, preferably in a food distribution setting
  • Good communication skills Knowledge of EXE System, as well as experience with shipping/labor standard/inventory control functions using our warehouse management system or a similar system
  •  Analytical skills to review numbers for developing benchmark.
  •  Proven effective leadership abilities; lead by example in terms of overall performance and conduct
  •  Ability to adhere to follow through on a plan of action.
  •  Develop quick and creative solutions to problems.
  •  Ability to work flexible hours and/or a variety of shifts.
  •  Work with all levels of management and line associates. 
  •  Strong with human relations skills, conflict resolution, problem solving 
  •  Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate verbally and in writing.
