Position Title: Dispatch Supervisor-2nd Shift

The Dispatch Supervisor Reports directly to the Transportation Manager and will also receive direction from the Director of Transportation as needed. The Dispatch Supervisor is primarily responsible for smooth and accurate dispatch of outbound loads, facilitating effective communication between the Transportation Department and warehouse operations, customer service, etc. This position is also responsible for responding to and resolving day to day issues involving individual drivers as well as thinking ahead, anticipating problems and working out solutions to problems that may arise.
Duties: (not inclusive)
- Maintain and execute the daily flight plan to insure accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of outbound load execution.
- Breakdown, verify and process driver delivery paperwork.
- Maintain and update the departmental communication log.
- Maintain accurate up to date information on delivery equipment so that drivers will know what they are driving and what is available for use at any given time during this dispatch shift. Utilize existing equipment efficiently without making unnecessary rentals.
- Discuss and resolve issues with drivers concerning bid package questions, on-call status, assignments, etc. Generally maintain an open and effective dialogue with delivery personnel to insure fairness and clarity of understanding.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED; College degree preferred
- Food Industry and Logistics/Transportation a plus.
- 2+ years experience in a Supervisory role.
- Attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Self motivated and strong leadership skills.
- Demonstrates initiative to change and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Excellent customer service skills in dealing with internal and external customers.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required.
- Proficient with the MS office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and able to use mainframe technology as trained.
- Flexibility to work as needed (this may involve starting earlier than usual or finishing later than usual depending on the work load, in addition to working days off if needed to cover an absence.

- Able to work 4, 10 hour days on 2nd shift.
